Do adults need a Bestie to communicate with a child?

No. Adults don’t need a Bestie — they can connect using their phone.

Some adults choose to use a Bestie too, but using a phone is the easiest and most convenient option for an adult.

Does my child need a phone or tablet to use Besties?

No. Children do not need a phone or tablet.

Parents or guardians use the Besties app to complete setup and manage settings. Kids interact directly with their Bestie, which has a small, non-interactive display for simple companion animations and essential status information — no apps, games, or browsing.

Is a Bestie screen-free?

Besties has no interactive screen to play with — there's nothing to swipe, tap, or scroll, and no apps, games, or browsing.

It does have a small, non-interactive display that brings your child's companion to life and shows simple status information, like mood state and connection status.

The display is there to encourage your child to send Heartbeats and Whispers to someone they love — not to keep them engaged with a screen.

Who controls who my child can connect with?

Parents or guardians approve every connection.

Children cannot add or change connections on their own. All linking is managed and controlled by the adult account.

Is Besties safe for kids?

Besties is built with safety as a core principle.

No. Besties does not require a monthly subscription to use its core connection features. Sending and receiving Heartbeats and Whispers is included with your purchase.

Can a Bestie be unlinked with the current connection and linked with someone else?

Yes. A Bestie can be re-linked at any time by the parent or guardian who manages the account.

Unlink immediately disconnects the current connection, and a new link can be set up whenever you’re ready.

Parents are always in control.
